WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
It has been known that volatile oil and gas condensate reservoirs cannot be modelled accurately with conventional black-oil models. One variation to the black-oil approach is the modified black-oil (MBO) model that allows the use of a simple, and less expensive computational algorithm than a fully compositional model that can result in significant timesaving in full field studies.

In this course we discuss preparing the most accurate and reliable set of values of fluid properties for use in reservoir simulation calculations. An understanding of the advantages of the application of both laboratory data and correlations will be provided. Exercises that utilize actual field and laboratory data are used to illustrate the principles and to ensure understanding of the applications of the procedures. The course also introduces the participants to the evolution of modern computational capabilities that allow engineers to use EOS models to study phenomena in gas condensate and volatile oil reservoir.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
- Identify the type of fluid in a particular reservoir and in general how that fluid will behave during production
- Understand different type of PVT experiment we can perform for gas condensate and volatile oil reservoirs
- Quality check of PVT reports and identifying the relevant data for various tasks in EOS tuning
- Use correlations to determine values of fluid properties in the absence of laboratory data
- Apply Equations of State and tune EOS to match experimental PVT data
- Select best simulation model to perform reservoir simulation
- How to initialize simulation model
- Well deliverability issue in gas condensate reservoir
- Development strategy in volatile oil and gas condensate reservoirs
